Getting Started Fishing

Updated: Aug 30, 2020

There is something to be said about getting outside early in the morning hearing the birds chirping and smelling the fresh morning air. Watching nature wake up while enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Casting a line out into the calm waters of a lake and waiting patiently for the bobber to shoot underwater or for a hard tug that will almost pull the rod right out of your hand!

Ahh, that is fishing! It is a hobby that is exhilarating and relaxing all at the same time. Fishing can be enjoyed by young and old alike. In 2017, an estimated 49 million Americans considered themselves anglers. And what's not to love? Water attracts people regardless if it is freshwater or saltwater, a river or a lake, a stream or a pond.

Also, this can be a family hobby. Generations of Americans have grown up fishing, and it is a great way for family bonding to occur. The hobby can be enjoyable too because it can be done on a budget. One does not have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to get started.
